Dine at Glenda’s

Last week I was invited to a dinner at Glenda’s in Dunkeld, an eatery serving café style, contemporary to-die-for breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Our evening started with a tour of the gorgeous premises – from freshly baked cakes in bell jars, petit fours, choux pastries and merveilleux‘s. What’s a merveilleux, you ask? It’s a creamy centre enrobed in a coconut covered meringue.

Starters were a huge decision, and I eventually decided on the Mozzarella with confit lemon and a deep fried artichoke. I should’ve gone for the Salt and Pepper Calamari (which was INCREDIBLE), as mine was a little on the bland side.

For my main course, I decided to go with the Fish Cakes – which consisted of delicious salmon on a bed of spinach with some insane rocket mayo and fries. Literally the best fishcakes I’ve ever had. And the spinach! I never knew spinach could be that good.

For dessert I got a piece of the Salted Caramel Popcorn cake, which was a visual delight and all sorts of delicious, with soft and gooey meringue and salted caramel popcorn as toppings. It was too sweet, and I only managed to have a few bites.

The only 2 negatives were my first main course choice of steak which was so tough I had to send it back, and the slow service. Our waiter seemed a bit scattered.

I so appreciate attention to detail, and I was blown away by the decor and finishing touches. The bright and beautiful floral wall is amazing for taking pictures and is just lovely to look at.

Besides the attention to detail, I love about Glenda’s is that their focus is on seasonal flavours with an ever changing menu. They have a nursery in their courtyard where herbs and salad leaves are plucked for the dishes.

Even if you don’t stop for a meal, I would really recommend popping into Glenda’s for a petit fours and a look. It really is a feast for the eyes.
