La Roche Posay’s Lipikar Baume intensely moisturises and soothes extremely dry skin and claims to soothe and restore skin’s moisture levels in very dry skin with a quickly absorbed, non-sticky finish. It is fragrance-free and contains La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring water to comfort skin. It is suitable for babies, children and adults. Available here for R300.

This cream behaves much like Avène’s body cream. It’s also a thick white cream that I use when I get out of the shower. I don’t think I’m using it wrong nor do I think I put too much on but I’m still left feeling sticky, even though the product claims to have a non-sticky finish. It provides superb moisturisation, and I’m very happy with it. If I want it to be a bit special, I’ll squeeze some into the palm of my hand and add a few drops of Rose, Geranium, Lavender or Sweet Orange oil. All in all, an effective moisturiser for dry, dehydrated skin.

the verdict?

I think both creams perform similarly well, with both being superior, long-lasting, fragrance-free moisturisers. Which body moisturisers do you love?
