Nuxe Melting Cleansing Gel | Beauty Review
I only ever hear amazing things about Nuxe, so when the time came for a new cleanser and I spotted their Melting Cleansing Gel for Face and Eyes with Rose Petals, I decided to give it a go. I’m not particularly fond of their dry oil (although nearly everyone raves about it) but I do love their Rêve de Miel Face and Body Ultra-Rich Cleansing Gel.
“This Melting Cleansing Gel with Rose Petals for face and eyes cleanses, removes make-up and clarifies with a mild and gentle action. Soap free, its melting, creamy texture doesn’t dry skin.“
I was seduced by the description of it melting away my make up, so immediately bought it. However, don’t be deceived. It doesn’t dissolve makeup at all. The directions say to massage it on to wet skin, but I have tried using it on wet, damp and dry skin, and still always have mascara smeared under my eyes and lots of makeup on my toner pad. Usually I don’t use toner, so this should tell you something. I feel like it’s definitely mediocre in the ‘removing makeup’ department. If I don’t go the toner route, I always follow up with my Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash. If I don’t my skin feels dirty and even sticky, with a strange residue hanging ’round. I have even tried it with my Clarisonic in the hopes that the brush action would clean better. Not a chance. Also, the texture is more like a cream than a gel (in a pretty opaque light cream/pink shade).
This cleanser might be good for you if you don’t wear any makeup or if you want something gentle for the mornings. Despite the fact that it smells like the prettiest rose garden, I am not impressed and won’t be repurchasing.
