What Not to Wear. EVER.
The point of getting dressed every day is to look your best. There are some pieces of clothing out there that, unfortunately, will help to achieve the opposite and will end up making you look shorter, squatter, bigger and heavier (insert loud scream here). If you are among the genetically blessed and can wear just about anything and rock it, we’re happy for you. For everyone else, choose wisely. Here are a few items that look good on no one:

If you haven’t been blessed with the tall gene, the skinny gene or the long legs gene, then cropped pants are most certainly not for you. Cropped pants will make already short legs or a short person look – you guessed it – shorter. Wider too.

Wearing a brand name or logo on your chest takes all the style out of your outfit. It’s the easiest thing in the world to slap on a brand name t-shirt with jeans. No imagination is required. Just don’t do it.

Anything that is too tight will make you look like you are too big to fit into your clothes. There is not a miracle item in this world that can cover up the effects of underwear that is too tight. If your bra digs into you, creating back fat or your undies are creating an unsightly bulge, ditch them. If your pants give you that dreaded muffin top, its time to go up a size.

They’re meant to be worn under things, like tunics and longer length tops, and unless you have the legs of a giraffe you really need to get on board. Even if you DO have the legs of a giraffe, they’re still not pants.

Boxy jackets will only create a boyish silhouette. Not nice. Show off your curves by wearing an elegant, tailored blazer.

Unless you are tall and skinny, they will make you look heavier and shorter in an instant. They also have a dated look. Try to not add any visual bulk over any area that you are trying to conceal. So pleats over large hips or a big tummy = bad.

If you aren’t a Vegas cocktail waitress, you shouldn’t be wearing this combo. It’s never a classy look. When you wear shorts, go for flats. If you are insistent on wearing heels with shorts, you need to tread really finely and create a tasteful and stylish look. Pair distressed denim shorts with a loose-fitting, 3/4 length sleeve blouse and some heels. Remember the golden rule: tone your look down if you wear shorts and heels; keep it unfussy. Don’t wear too much bling or go crazy with your makeup.

By avoiding these items Lovelies, you have just dodged a fashion bullet!
