Get used to wearing a whole lot more purple, because the authority on all things colour, Pantone, has named Radiant Orchid the colour of the year for 2014. A definite contrast from 2013’s Emerald, the hot pink-infused purple is an enchanting floral hue that exudes femininity. Radiant Orchid is a harmonious relationship between fuchsias, purples, and pinks, which, as Pantone points out, aids in inspiring confidence and emanates joy, love, and health. Personally, I love Radiant Orchid! If you aren’t that keen on it and need to get used to it, start off small with a paler lipstick like YSL’s Volupté Sheer Candy in Iced Plum and gradually make your way to a bolder version. I like Lancôme’s Rouge in Love Violette Coquette. If you want to jump straight in, go for a clutch or day time bag, a bold blazer or dress. Remember to use it as an accent colour, and don’t overdo it!
