Haircare Review | TREsemmé Keratin Smooth
When it comes to haircare, I prefer to use the Kerastases and Moroccanoils of the world. This is because I feel that they work for me. Another more economical range that works for me is TREsemmé’s Keratin Smooth line (which I believe is their best offering yet).
Infused with Keratin, the collection is specially formulated to leave hair sleek and shiny while eliminating frizz. The Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner are low in sulphates which means that they are kinder to colour-treated hair and gentler on the whole. SLS or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is a synthetic chemical which is widely used in shampoos, detergents and other things that clean. They’re so commonly used because they cut through oil and they’re inexpensive. SLS can dry both your hair and scalp and can contribute to colour fading. Read about the nasty effects of SLS here.
Why I like it?
♥ It leaves my hair soft and silky, with no frizz in sight
♥ It smells amazing! It has that characteristic TREsemmé smell, which I love
♥ It doesn’t weigh my hair down (this is a mean feat as because I have fine hair, anti-frizz products tend to be TRÈS heavy for me) (see what I did there)
♥ The conditioner helps me to easily detangle my hair
♥ My hair is manageable
♥ It doesn’t turn me into a grease ball (some products that are loaded with silicone do)
♥ The bottles are 750 ml so that means they last for ages – no fear of running out of your shampoo+conditioner any time soon
♥ The range is TRÈS affordable (did it again)
♥ The range contains fewer sulphates
What I don’t like about it:
The conditioner takes FOREVER to rinse off! I mean forever. So much so that I even considered washing my hair again to get it out. With enough rinsing, my hair was eventually conditioner-free (there’s nothing worse than getting out of the shower all clean and then going to dry your hair only to discover a stickiness that makes your hair look you haven’t washed it. Yuck).
