Taste of Joburg 2012
On Saturday night, boyfriend and I went to the Taste festival at Monte Casino. It was lots of fun and a great way to experience a multitide of different cuisines and flavours.

Loving the attention to detail: Reese’s Pieces sprinkled on top
I have a sweet tooth, without a doubt, and I love me some chocolate. I am also mildly obsessed with peanut butter. I found this tasty little creation at an amazing cupcake stand, owned by a chef with a pink uniform!!! (more about that later). There were loads of amazing flavours to choose from like coconut ice, lemon meringue, rocky road, triple chocolate, millionaires shortbread and Lindt chilli chocolate, but in the end, my thing for peanut butter got the better of me, and I got the chocolate peanut butter kind. Oh Em Gee. It was delicious!

This is the talented Tamara, who creates these cupcakes. As a public service, I am giving her number out, in case you have an event and you would like to embellish it with some amazing eats. Call Tamara on 083 257 7793.
Another treasure I stumbled upon that I found surprisingly fascinating was salt. Yes, salt. But not just any salt… Falksalt Crystal Flakes. How fabulous does that sound?

Infused with various seasonings, this salt has the most delicious taste. I ended up buying the Wild Garlic flavour and, man oh man, do I have plans for it. It’s so intensely flavoured and is delightfully crunchy, which makes it even more interesting.

I got the beautiful Kosta Boda salt pinching dishes with the salt, which ups the glam factor even more. I love this opaque milky white one! Kosta Boda is one of Sweden’s oldest glassworks, and you can find Kosta Boda designs at various Spilhaus stores around SA.
I’m not really a pasta-sauce-in-a-jar kinda gal, because they normally don’t taste too good, but I was super impressed by the Dress Italian stand, and bought a red pepper pesto in a bottle.

Towards the end of the night, I came across another cupcake stand, but couldn’t manage another bite, so just feasted my eyes on these guys:

How amazing do they look?
