Food Heaven | Taste of Joburg 2013

What do you get when you mix friends, fun and food? Yup …  A pretty good time! Last night I attended the opening night of Taste of Joburg Sponsored by Pick ‘n Pay and Orbit at Monte Casino, and it was my best Taste experience yet! The atmosphere was awesome, everybody was effervescent and most of all, the food was fabulous! From the boutique exhibitors, artisan producers, premium drink brands and award-winning wineries, I indulged in some tandoori chicken alfredo from The Maslow’s Lacuna Bistro, a soft shell taco, some braised oxtail and mushroom panzerotti in an olive, tomato and basil sauce from La Cucina di Ciro, some crispy beef with fried rice from 2 Thai 4 and the most delicious cocktail I have ever tasted from Consol’s mixology lounge. I also delighted in some sweet treats like peanut butter fudge from Gourmet fudge, a dense, chocolate brownie, some macarons and a caramel cupcake from Chlo Lo. The Taste of Joburg runs from 26-29 September 2013 and is not to be missed!

The most delicious and refreshing cocktail you will ever make: The Citrus Burst

Muddle segments of some citrus fruit such as naartjies, oranges, grapefruit and limes together, add a tot of Elderflower syrup and a tot or two of citrus vodka. Finish off with some crushed ice and a straw then kick back and enjoy.
