If You Have Dry Skin, You Need This
Dry skin is prone to ageing faster, and can look dull and lacklustre if not taken care of properly. Trust me, I know. Every beauty therapist I encounter tells me that I have ‘dry, dehydrated skin’. To counter this, I have about 5 moisture masks from different brands in my beauty drawer, various hyaluronic-laden serums and creams and many facial oils. The only time I don’t use a rich facial moisturiser is in summer. If I don’t exfoliate regularly, my skin can look quite dull, but I also have to be weary not to over-exfoliate, as this can strip the skin’s natural barrier and further enhance dryness. Yikes! Dry skin can be high maintenance.
A while ago I was beauty-product-perving on Sephora’s site, when Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 1 caught my eye. Review after positive review and the fact that it made Caroline Hirons’ Top 10 Acid Toner list made me want to immediately get my hands on it. I did a bit more reading on other beauty blogs and I was sold. I like to do background research on a product before I consider buying it because it gives me a good idea of what it does and whether or not it might work for me.
Until this product, I was firmly of the belief that toner was an extra, completely useless and unnecessary step. Now I am a convert. Not of all toners. But of this one. It’s an essential part of my routine, and I notice when I forget to use it.

Because of the 0.5% salicylic acid it gently exfoliates, keeps blackheads at bay somewhat and gives me a glow. If I have the odd pimple, I know that it’ll soon be goon with this miracle worker. Glowing skin: check!
Because of the gentle exfoliation it provides, I don’t have to exfoliate as much with enzymatic masks. Less stress and time saved. Exfoliated skin: check!
I like to use it after I’ve used an oil cleanser to make sure that any residue is completely wiped away. I love the clean feeling that it gives me. Clean skin: check!
It hydrates. Usually my skin feels tight after using a toner, but this one hydrates and makes my skin feel comfortable (without adding greasiness). Hydrated skin: check!

Not a single thing.
