January Loves
1. Buying: I saw the Marc Jacobs Turnlock Katie bracelet on shopbop.com and it was love at first sight. Four days later, the pretty thing was on my wrist. Great customer service and free international shipping. That puts a smile on my already-happy-because-of-the-MJ-bracelet dial. It came in gold, rose gold and silver. I chose the silver. Locally, I got two dresses for R590 on sale at Jenni Button. Both the same style, the one is teal and the other black. The dress is satin in the front and stretch cotton at the back, making it very comfortable. Because of this, you can either dress it down – with pretty sandals, a simple but stylish waist belt and a tote or up – with killer heels, a fierce waist belt and clutch. The great thing about this dress is that it looks good on all body shapes! One of my friends is pregnant, and it looks beautiful on her. It works out to be a really chic, stylish maternity dress too!
2. Play: Inspired by a dancer in Egypt, I started belly dancing this month and I’m loving it. It’s so much fun! It looks easy but it’s actually quite challenging. You have to isolate muscles that you didn’t even know existed!
3. Watching: Silver Linings Playbook is quirky and fun. When you read the overview, it seems like the movie has been done before, but it’s really original and entertaining. I’ve also been watching a bit of Tia &Tamera. I know, I know. Don’t tell me…
4. Loving: The fresh optimism and potential that 2013 has brought me! Also, I’m enjoying discovering all the benefits of eating raw food (obviously not meat). I still love pasta and other yummy cooked food, but I am striving to make my breakfasts raw in the form of fruit and smoothies, salads for lunch and then whatever I want for dinner. It’s all about balance.
5. Reading: I’m getting my fashion fix courtesy of InStyle, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue to catch up on trends and see what’s happening in the big wide world out there.
6. Beauty: I am obsessed with Dior’s Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum Eyelash Primer. It curls and separates my eyelashes and amps up the volume. And no more raccoon eyes. EVER! You can read all about it here.
7. On my wishlist: I find myself literally jumping out of bed at ungodly hours running to my iPad to search and shop for seriously pretty flat sandals. I am craving a new pair, but I haven’t found any worthy. If you know where I can find some, help me out. Please!
