“La vie est belle” means “Life is beautiful” and Lancôme is about to make it even more so. The French luxury perfume and cosmetics house has just released the third instalment in the La vie est belle series, La vie est belle L’Absolu de Parfum, and, well, it is beautiful! Lancôme launched La vie est belle (Lancôme’s first gourmand iris) in 2012, which was followed by  La vie est belle L’Eau de Toilette (Lancôme’s first gourmand magnolia) in 2014. Finally, La vie est belle L’Absolu is launched, more intense and more luxurious than the previous editions.

La vie est belle L’Absolu de Parfum brings out the fragrance’s very quintessence: more powerful, more sensual and as harmonious as ever, interwoven with sublime raw ingredients. Staying true to the original fragrance, the creators chose to accentuate the sweet notes as contained in the original, preserving its signature notes such as sweet iris, praline, pear, blackcurrant and tonka bean. The fragrance opens with accords of black currant and pear. The heart is composed of sweet iris, orange blossom, jasmine absolute and Damascus rose. The base includes tonka bean, praline and cashmere.

The fragrance is transformed by the enveloping embrace of aldehydes – a remarkable raw ingredient associated with some of the most beautiful compositions of the French Perfumery industry. Simultaneously chic and potent, they traverse the entire composition, offering volume and elegance. They energise the top notes with simultaneously luminous and incisive radiance while beautifying and illuminating the most delightful floral absolutes of jasmine, orange blossom and rose Damascena essence. Finally, it pairs wonderfully with iris, enhancing all of its powdered charm. An ode to joie de vivre with a firmer stance than ever.

The Juice

Decadently sweet, without being too overpowering, this pink juice is like an instant hit of candy. I can’t tell you what it is, but when I catch a whiff of the fragrance, it makes me feel happy. It reminds me to be happy and grateful. And it’s not one of those perfumes that fade quickly. Oh no. A single spray will see you well past 5-6 hours, so use it sparingly. I love the fact that the fragrance stands for happiness and, to me, it is a reminder that life is beautiful.

The bottle

Designed in 1949 by Georges Delhomme this historic form emerges renewed thanks to modern designer Catherine Krunas. Created to embody an internal “crystal smile” suspended in a heart of glass, the stunning bottle is adorned with a precious zamac cap (zamac is an acronym that symbolises the alloy metal of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper) and metallic tulle ribbon to sparkle with majestic luxury.
