In Love with YSL Manifesto

Manifesto from Yves Saint Laurent is a tasty little treat, that has a sweet vanilla scent, is also a little fruity and a little floral. It is YSL’s first major feminine release since Parisienne (which is one of my favourite fragrances) in 2009.

The bottle’s cinched shape is very feminine, which is an attestation to the fragrance itself. The creators wanted to create a Manifesto of Femininity whose fragrance would evoke “an attitude, a burst of laughter, a tone of voice, a presence.” The gorgeous combination of gold and purple emit an air of royalty.

When it comes to the scent, the top notes are blackcurrant, bergamot and green notes, the middle notes are jasmine and lily of the valley and the notes are cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean. A lot of people have complained that the scent is not bold enough to distinguish Manifesto from other perfumes, and while I agree somewhat, I really couldn’t be bothered by it because I love the fragrance so much. I wear it as both a day- and night time fragrance, and I think it will be perfect for the upcoming colder months. In summer I tend to go for lighter, more citrusy scents, while in the colder months I like to go for warm, comforting, sweet, vanilla-like scents.

All in all I love this perfume and adore its sultry, sweet scent. It has jumped straight onto my ‘favourites’ list.
