Micellar Water Face Off | Bioderma VS Gatineau

I love me some good cleansing water, and am already a huge fan of Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution. When I saw that Rubybox had Gatineau’s Gentle Micellar Water on special (400ml for R130), I decided that I’d had a good enough experience with Gatineau to try their cleansing water.

If you’ve ever wondered which cleansing water works best or which would suit your skin better, read on…

micellar1

What I like

  • It cleans my face sufficiently well, but I’m not over the moon with the job it does
  • It contains no alcohol, silicones, parabens, colour or fragrance

What I don’t like

  • The pump applicator is so pesky and annoying. It shoots the cleansing water out (because the force is so great) and no matter what I do, it always bounces off the cotton pad and onto whatever is nearest. I have resorted to using the minutest force and never pushing the applicator down fully. This seems to work (most of the time!)
  • It leaves a sticky residue on my skin which I really don’t like (I loathe when any product makes me feel sticky. Self-tan I’m talking to you too!)
  • I need to use more of this product compared to the Bioderma Sensibio H20 to clean my face
  • I still feel like there are traces of makeup on my face even after cleansing

Micellar-water

What I like

  • It cleans my face brilliantly! Not a trace of makeup in sight!
  • It also contains no alcohol, silicones, parabens, colour or fragrance
  • I love the transparent bottle with the pink cap (this makes it easily identifiable)
  • The squeeze bottle allows for just the right amount of micellar water on my cotton pad every time
  • If you really don’t have access to water, you can go to sleep knowing that your face is clean – no makeup in sight and no tackiness
  • I love the fact that it cleans all my makeup off (I know I said that in the first point) but I love that it does its job impeccably and that it gives me peace of mind that my skin is perfectly clean.

What I don’t like

  • There’s not one thing that I don’t like!

the winner?

Although the Gatineau cleans my skin adequately, I’d definitely choose Bioderma over Gatineau. Bioderma doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky and does a better job overall. If I didn’t have access to water, I would be far happier removing my makeup with Bioderma’s micellar water.

Both products are available from Rubybox.
