Review | Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids’ Hot Plum
I’m always on the prowl for a great lip colour, so when I was out grabbing some things from Dischem (and unable to walk past the beauty aisle) I stumbled upon the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids collection. What impressed me immediately was the amazing colour offering. After considering a few gorgeous colours, I was faced with either Hot Plum or Fuchsia Flash (which is also super gorgeous). I eventually decided on Hot Plum.
The COLOUR: When I think of plum, I think of a dark purple shade, and this is not dark or purple at all. Hot Plum is a gorgeous blue toned pink and is extremely pigmented.
The TEXTURE: This lipstick is so creamy and smooth. It glides on like a dream (and smells like one too!). It’s also hydrating enough that I don’t feel the need to apply a lip balm first. That said, it’s not particularly moisturising (I guess we can’t have the best of both worlds). Just two swipes and Hot Plum becomes completely opaque and electric! One application has a 3-4 hour staying time period and also leaves a stain when it wears off. Also, I experienced no bleeding. #winning
PACKAGING: The lipstick is packaged in the standard Colour Sensational silver tube but the difference is in the cap – it’s neon red which sets the tones for the Vivids range.
OVER ALL: Hot Plum exceeded my expectations for a ‘drugstore’ lipstick. This is my favourite pink lipstick of all time ever in terms of texture, colour, staying power and price. I hope Maybelline never stops making it! If you have been looking for the perfect pink lip colour, go out and get this one. You won’t be sad you did!
