MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation Review

On my quest to find the best foundation (and believe me when I tell you I have searched far and wide and tried many a product) for my skin type (which is dry) I have eventually uncovered a foundation that I love! What is that lovely product, you ask? Its MAC Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation.

MAC claims that this is “a creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant. Offers broad spectrum SPF 15 protection.

What do I love about this foundation?

• It’s not a liquid, it has more of a gel/cream consistency

• It’s is easy to apply (not messy or gloopy)

• You really only need a little bit to get a really good medium coverage

• The coverage isn’t really dewy or matte, but more like a satin finish

• The tube packaging is more hygienic than a bottle with a screw off lid

• No break outs to report

• One tube lasts me longer than 6 months

What don’t I like?

• It transfers quite easily, which is annoying. I understand that if it didn’t transfer, it would have to be more of a long-wearing, thicker formulation, which I don’t want anyway. I guess you can’t have it all…

I normally apply this with my foundation brush and then finish off by smoothing and patting my face with my fingers, to make sure I blend out any brush-stroke lines. As I mentioned, my skin type is dry and I wouldn’t recommend this foundation for gals with oily skin. Those with combination skin could use it, but would need to apply a little bit of powder to the T-zone to enhance the staying power and minimize shine.
