Reviewing Elizabeth Arden’s Summer Escape Collection SS14

Elizabeth Arden recently launched their Summer Escape collection for summer 2014, inspired by the alluring colors of the ocean. The packaging of this collection was designed with a chic nautical theme in mind and makes me think of sand between my toes and a cool beachy cockatil. The colour palette is full of golden neutrals, pinky corals and different shades of blue to help you create a natural, glowing look. Quite extensive, this collection features bronzers, a highlighter, gloss lipsticks, cream eye shadows, eyeliner duos, a mascara and nail colours for a nautical chic look. I got my hands on 2 of the products from this collection and here are my thoughts …

Elizabeth Arden’s best-selling mascara has gone a little blue, with the limited edition shade in pearlised brilliant blue. Powered by a potent complex of peptides, this luxurious, multi-dimensional mascara immediately volumises, lengthens and curls the appearance of lashes, and is clinically proven to enhance the look of lash length, density and curl with continued use. Blue makes the whites of your eye seem brighter, so shine on, sailor!

As blue mascaras go, it brightens and opens up the eyes without screaming ‘blue’. The formula doesn’t do anything dramatic in terms of volume, so if you’re looking for long, thick lashes, you won’t get that here. The formula applies to lashes without much clumping, and I found that it flaked a bit towards the end of the day. Overall it imparts a pretty blue hue to your peepers, without being overpowering.

Luxuriously creamy, these highly pigmented eye shadows impart vivid, long-lasting colour to the eyelids. Each gorgeously vibrant hue glides on smoothly and sets for long lasting colour. Enriched with Aloe and Vitamin E, the creamy formula helps soothe and protect the eye area, while providing comfortable wear. Pure Finish Cream Eye Shadow comes in a clear glass pot with a navy, nautical printed screw cap.

I tried out Sand Dollar, which is a shimmery gold colour. It makes for an excellent base color or just a nude, natural eye shade color, and I really enjoy wearing it. It has a mousse texture and is super easy to apply.
