Rihanna is Awarded the 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award

Following in the footsteps of style icons Kate Moss and Lady Gaga, Rihanna has been announced as the recipient of the 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award. The 26-year-old, who is the current star of Balmain’s spring 2014 campaign, was presented with the honour on June 2 at Lincoln Center in New York City. “We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said in the announcement.
For those of you who don’t know, I LOVE RiRi. She is a notorious sartorial risk-taker, and pulls off everything from bra-less sheer tops and lingerie-inspired daywear to full couture on the regular. With her ever-changing hairdos, fearless style, and bold beauty, the fashion designer and face of M.A.C’s Viva Glam collection, is one of the most predictably unpredictable fashion stars of late and it’s not surprising at all that RiRi was chosen to receive the honour.
