Hi Lovelies,

If you’re on the market for some new ‘poo (I always giggle when I type that word), today I’m reviewing the Elixir Ultime Oleo-Complexe range and you’re going to want to listen up.

Kérastase Bain Elixir Ultime

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Bain

Kérastase have selected the most lavish oils in their highest concentration to create this 24 carat hair ritual. The shampoo is luxurious, precious and as pure as gold with a beautiful, exotic, luxurious scent (the best way I can describe it is that of a Tom Ford fragrance). It lathers up nicely, and using this shampoo makes me feel like I’m in Morocco or a guest in Tom Ford’s house (wouldn’t that be lovely!). My hair feels soft and silky and cleansed. If you’re having second thoughts about oil in shampoo, don’t. It’s the same principle as oil cleansing essentially, where oil lifts oil (you can read more about it here). I can tell you that this shampoo doesn’t feel any different from any other Kérastase shampoo when it comes to that after-shower clean feeling. The combination of oils includes maize oil (for shine), pracaxi oil (for deep conditioning), camelia oil (to smooth the hair fiber) and argan oil (to restore and protect). Another thing that makes me smile about this shampoo is that it’s silicone and paraben-free.

Kérastase Elixir Ultime Masque

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Masque

The masque has a beautiful, buttery, rich, vanilla-coconut scent infused with the heady fragrance of the shampoo. Applying it feels like true luxury. I am in love with the texture of this masque: it is rich and creamy and looks like golden honeycomb. It is said to revive the natural strength of hair, provide nourishment deep into the hair fiber and give hair incredible shine. When I use this masque, my hair is soft, smooth and shiny. I really feel like my hair has been nourished.

 Kérastase Elixir Ultime Oil

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil

The pre-shower oil/treatment oil had me jumping up and down with excitement because I’ve always thought it would be a good idea to show your hair a good time and give it some love before you shower. What a genius idea! Before this beautiful oil showed up, I would use my Ren Rose Centifolia oil cleanser as a nourishing treatment for my ends before I hopped in the shower (it works like a charm). Shampoo is for your roots and not your ends, and the ends can get pretty dry and damaged.

This really is a versatile oil that provides ultimate shine, softness and nourishment for all hair types. I love that it can be applied at any stage of my haircare routine (pre-shampoo, pre-blow dry, during styling or finishing). Usually I apply a 2 pumps on my damp hair and it leaves my hair feeling soft and silky once I’ve blowdried. Sometimes I’ll use it the day after I’ve washed my hair, for some extra shine. When I have time, I’ll mix small amount of Masque Elixir Ultime with one to two pumps of the Elixir Ultime Oil in a small bowl and then apply to my damp hair as a mask, leaving on for 10-15 minutes and then rinsing off. The result afterward is the softest, smoothest, shiniest hair imaginable. Hair that is easy to style, control and appears undoubtedly healthy. It was a winner in Allure’s 2012 Best of Beauty.

Although I wish this scent would last forever, the scrumptious scent lingers on your locks for up to 2 days after you wash it. I would seriously buy this fragrance if Kérastase decided to come out with one. It’s that good. In fact, I think I might just get these products for the smell.

R500 for 125ml (It might seem steep, but a little goes a long way)
