I was on Top Billing tonight, discussing how you can pamper yourself with natural goodies from your very own kitchen.

Here are the recipes:

Mash the banana up nice and smooth. Add the yogurt and honey and you’re done. Couldn’t be easier!

The vitamin A in banana helps to get rid of dark spots, while vitamin B moisturises and delays ageing. Vitamin E acts as a protector by combatting free radicals and Potassium hydrates skin cells. The lactic acid found in yoghurt gently removes skin cells, hydrates and soothes. Honey is a superfood that you could even apply on its own for a beauty treat! It is antibacterial (good for acne), contains loads of antioxidants (which helps to slow down ageing), is moisturising and soothing and clarifying (it opens your pores).

TB AvoScreen Shot 2015-07-09 at 10.27.56 PM

1 ripe avocado

1 tablespoon lemon juice

5 tablespoons olive oil or coconut oil

Mash the avocado well. If you want a super smooth texture, go ahead and blitz it in a food processor. Next, add the lemon juice and oil of your choice. Apply to dry hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse well, and be sure to shampoo your roots well, to ensure that the olive oil is completely gone. Dry as normal and voila! Shiny, lustrous locks.

The vitamin B found in avocado is essential for hair growth. The vitamin E is highly moisturising and protects against environmental stressors and damage. It may also stimulate new growth and unclog blocked hair follicles. Even if you don’t use styling products shampoo & conditioner can still create buildup and lemon juice is a fantastic way to clear product buildup. Olive oil is high in moisturising properties and the fatty acids coat the shaft of the hair, keeping it healthy, shiny and protected. Coconut oil is a super star (and my personal favourite) because it it one of the only oils that can penetrate into the actual hair shaft. It is moisturising and replenishing and helps to keep hair in an all round great condition.

I hope you have fun with these treatments and do a bit of experimenting. What other natural treats have you tried and loved?
