The Ultimate Dry Shampoo

If you know a thing about me, it’s that I love dry shampoo. I love it because it’s a clever multitasker: it refreshes your hair between washes (because who has time to wash and style their hair everyday) and it gives you volume. My hair isn’t naturally voluminous, so I rely on my dry shampoo to give my roots a lift. The combination of dry shampoo + hairspray is a real winner!

A while ago I wrote an article featuring my favourite dry shampoos. I thought I had found a winner in Colab’s new range, but so far have had 3 dud cans, and am fed up with the product inconsistency. So when I was invited to the launch of Moroccanoil’s new dry shampoo, I was positively elated.

I love Moroccanoil products. The treatment oil was my first love and my second ever post. I love their hair masks too. It came as no surprise that when I first tried their dry shampoo, it was love at first spray.

Moroccanoil3

what makes this dry shampoo so incredible?

Moroccanoil’s Dry Shampoo instantly absorbs oil and product buildup (courtesy of a rice powder-based formula) without leaving behind any visible powder. When I say there’s no trace, I mean it. You will never know white patches with this product. GIANT heart eyes.  It protects against UV damage, features natural volumizing and deodorizing agents (that absorb any odors) and infuses hair and scalp with signature Moroccanoil fragrance. So basically clean, fresh, just-left-the-salon hair. Yes please!

There are two variants, developed to address different tonality needs. To bring out the best in light hair, there is Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Light Tones. The ninja aspect of the Light Tones variant is that it features subtle violet undertones to help balance brassiness. When the scalp produces sebum, it can create a yellowish effect at the roots (visible mostly on lighter hair colours). The invisible-to-the-eye violet undertones help to counteract any yellowness. If you have darker hair and have used dry shampoo before, you’ll know that some most dry shampoos leave that telltale white residue that diminishes natural shine. Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones is formulated with ultra-fine rice starches that blend immediately upon application and has a as a subtle, non-messy tint that doesn’t dull dark hair or stain fingers or clothes and that maintains the richness and dimension of darker hair tones. Genius!

How to Use:

Position bottle 15-20 cms away from hair roots and generously spritz 2″ sections of hair. Massage into scalp with fingertips to activate the formula and distribute product. With a brush or thin comb, gently brush hair to fully work product into strands and deliver extra volume.

Available for R390 at selected hair salons.
